A new organization has been formed to represent individuals who suffer from hyperacusis and to educate professionals and the public: The American Hyperacusis Association. Hyperacusis is a collapsed loudness tolerance in hearing in adults and children. The AHA plans to promote research into the condition as well as publish a quarterly newsletter to members.
