Effects of social context on amplitude in zebra finch vocalizations
*J. Cynx (Vassar College)

In zebra finches, either sex can vary the amplitude of its vocalizations to compensate for background noise levels (Cynx, et al., 1998). The data presented here indicate that males and females will also regulate amplitude depending on the presence of another zebra finch, and whether that zebra finch is a male or a female.
