TRANSCOCHLEAR APPROACH TO THE SKULL BASE-1976

Demonstrated is a new approach to tumors of the skull base that arise medial to the internal auditory canal, or from the clivus. The approach involves a forward extension of the translabyrinthine opening, and the cochlea is removed with the facial nerve rerouted posteriorly.
