TRANSCOCHLEAR APPROACH TO THE SKULL

skull base that arise medial to the internal
auditory canal, or from the clivus. The approach
involves a forward extension of the
translabyrinthine opening, and the cochlea is
removed with the facial nerve rerouted posteriorly.
The forward limit of the dissection is the internal
carotid artery.
