Purpose

The Goal of the Diversity and Minority Affairs Committee is to promote multi-cultural diversity and equal opportunity among scientists.

The ARO Committee on Diversity and Minority Affairs will:

  • Promote greater sensitivity to and exposure of multi-cultural diversity among the membership and leadership of the ARO.
  • Encourage underrepresented minority students in the pursuit of their education by providing mentoring activities for students and post-doctoral fellows.
  • Enhance the visibility and participation of underrepresented minority scientists and physicians in the programs offered by the ARO.

Specific Duties

  • To advertise the availability of Travel Awards for Students and Postdoctoral Fellows to attend the ARO annual meeting.
  • To evaluate Travel Award applications and make recommendations to Council.
  • To sponsor mentoring activities for students and post-doctoral fellows during the ARO annual meeting.
