The Weldon School of Biomedical
Engineering and the School of Mechanical
Engineering at Purdue University are inviting
applications for a tenured faculty position at the
Full or Associate Professor levels in the broad
areas of Acoustics, Hearing or Speech. We are
seeking a highly qualified, creative individual
with substantial research experience and an
interest in teaching. The successful candidate will
be expected to foster growth in interdisciplinary
Acoustics through the newly established PHASE
initiative at Purdue University.
PHASE (Purdue Hearing and Acoustics
in Science and Engineering) is an interdisciplinary
community of approximately 50 faculty members from
across 16 departments at Purdue University's West
Lafayette Campus and the Indiana University School
of Medicine in Indianapolis (www.purdue.edu/research/phase/).
The mission of PHASE is to nurture a vital and
collaborative interdisciplinary community of
faculty and students engaged in hearing and
acoustics research and clinical practice. It is the
vision of PHASE to promote and maintain ongoing
funded interdisciplinary basic science and applied
research projects among its members. It is expected
that the successful candidate will assume a
leadership role to help strategically guide the
development of PHASE into a self-sustaining
research center and graduate program.
Candidates must have an earned
doctoral degree and a distinguished background that
includes depth in both engineering and life
sciences. The successful candidate will be expected
to develop and teach biomedical or mechanical
engineering courses and maintain a strong,
externally-funded research program. The successful
candidate will be tenured either in the Weldon
School of Biomedical Engineering or the School of
Mechanical Engineering as appropriate. Formal
affiliations with other Schools within the
University will also be possible.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

The Doctor of Audiology Program at
the University of Louisville School of Medicine has
a vacancy for an Assistant Professor of Audiology.
Responsibilities include: Teach doctoral level
courses in diagnostics/electrophysiologic
techniques; Conduct research; Provide limited
patient care; and Participate in other scholarly
activities.
The Au.D. only program is situated in
the Division of Audiology, Department of Surgery.
Preference will be given to Au.D./Ph.D. holders,
but applications will be accepted from Ph.D. and
Au.D. candidates who have a strong interest in
establishing an independent research program.
Candidates must have the CCC-A and be eligible for
Kentucky licensure. This is a 12-month,
tenure-track position. The program is housed
administratively and physically within the Health
Sciences Center in downtown Louisville, Ky.
Opportunities for multidisciplinary interactions
abound. There are currently 40+ Au.D. students
enrolled, and expansion is anticipated.
The program uses a wide array of
clinical teaching sites, including acute care
hospitals, a major pediatric hospital, a V.A.
hospital, a school for deaf and hard-of-hearing
children, and private practices.

NEUROBIOLOGY OF HEARING

tenure-track positions (assist.-full Professor) in
the Departments of Otolaryngology and Neurobiology
& Anatomy. As part of an institutional
initiative in Neuromedicine, candidates will join a
strong interdepartmental group of systems and
cellular neuroscientists under the umbrella of the
Center for Navigation and Communication Sciences
(NIDCD-funded P30 core-center) with strengths in
sensory, motor, and integrative neurobiology,
emphasizing the auditory and vestibular systems and
neuroengineering. This recruitment is targeted
toward basic and translational aspects of
regenerative and restorative sensory neurobiology
of the ear, including progenitor/stem cell
approaches (e.g. hair cell regeneration), gene
therapy, and prosthetic applications. Candidates
should have a PhD and/or MD (physician-scientist),
and an established independent research laboratory
following training in neuroscience and/or
engineering. Successful candidates will maintain a
productive, independent, and externally supported
research program and participate in teaching

The Smilow Neuroscience Program, a
new initiative at NYU School of Medicine, seeks to
establish an interactive research environment of
molecular, cellular, and systems neuroscientists.
It is housed in the newly dedicated Smilow Research
Center, with state-of-the-art facilities. The
program will recruit faculty who are addressing
fundamental questions in auditory or vestibular
neuroscience through novel approaches from multiple
disciplines.
Available positions are tenure-track
and at the level of Assistant or Associate
Professor. Successful candidates will be affiliated
with the Department of Otolaryngology, with joint

The Eaton-Peabody Laboratories (EPL)
at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (MEEI)
seek applications from neuroscientists interested
in central auditory processing. MEEI and EPL
provide an interdisciplinary and collaborative
intellectual environment within an active clinical
setting, The research base includes 23 NIH-funded
investigators studying hearing and deafness, 4
studying balance disorders and 15 studying vision
and blindness. MEEI researchers participate in
teaching programs for graduate students, medical
students and residents, at both Harvard and MIT,
including the Program in Speech and Hearing
Bioscience and Technology.
Candidates should have an outstanding
record of research accomplishment and a strong
